What Grinds My Gears: Results Shows

It's bad enough that reality shows have taken off the way that they have, but come on, REALLY?! I'm a fan of Dancing With the Stars because I like watching the celebrities compete. I will gladly watch the competition for an hour once per week, but it ends there. I really don't have the time to take another hour out of my week to waste 56 minutes watching nonsense to finally get to the 4 minutes that matter. On top of that, why make results shows an hour long? They should be a half hour tops. Less work for producers and more free time for me.

It's even worse when you're not happy with the results. I just watched American Idol for an hour only to find out that Scotty won. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care that much, but now I feel even worse about wasting the last hour of my life.

... and then Fox News came on and talked about Spongebob. You know, the hard-hitting news. Speaking of things that grind my gears...

  1. Amy, was reading you post on "socialnomics" and found your blog from Twitter. un-intentionally it is becoming a give and take rule. Twitter is diverting traffic to Television screens in the form of viewers and Televisions are sending traffic to Twitter so viewers/audience can spread the word about what they are watching on the TV screens. But French Govt is not permitting Electronic media to act like this.

  2. @iCheap I've definitely noticed the give and take rule as well. I think it's great to see the two mediums combining forces... I'd be really interested to see some case studies on this. The French Government doesn't allow this? Is there any integration at all?
